Robotic-Assisted Surgery

When you have a gynecologic condition that requires medical care, your doctor may recommend lifestyle changes, prescribe medication, or suggest other options to ease your symptoms. If these approaches don’t work, your doctor may suggest surgery.

Many gynecologic procedures can be performed with minimally invasive robotic-assisted surgery. Your doctor will make one or more small incisions and then operate by guiding advanced surgical instruments with highly magnified, high-definition views of the surgical area.

Gynecologic procedures that once required open surgery, such as simple and radical hysterectomy, pelvic organ prolapse repair, uterine fibroid removal, and endometriosis surgeries, can now be performed with robotic-assisted surgery. A minimally invasive procedure can mean fewer risks, less pain, less scarring and less use of heavy pain medications containing narcotics after surgery. Post-operative recovery is usually quicker, and patients can resume their normal lives within a few short weeks.

Dr. Brian Drake is a recognized expert in gynecological surgery using the da Vinci® robotic system. He is dedicated to patient care and supports ongoing learning, advancing skills and adopting proven technology to work for better patient outcomes. Dr. Drake has completed thousands of robotic-assisted surgeries which enhanced his ability to care for patients by making better-informed decisions with precision, flexibility and control.
