Well Woman's Care

In addition to annual physicals, well-woman exams are important for maintaining long-term health and identifying any issues or concerns early, when they are more treatable. From adolescence through menopause and beyond, well-woman exams should be a part of your regular preventive health screenings.

Like a yearly physical, a well-woman exam will start with questions about your medical history and a thorough check of your vital signs. Your healthcare provider then looks for potential reproductive health concerns, like changes to your menstrual cycle, and screens for potential risks. This screening will likely include a breast exam to check for lumps or swelling and a pelvic exam to check for any issues with your vagina, uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes and cervix. A pap smear may be recommended, depending on your age and medical history.

In addition to being one of the best measures you can take to monitor and maintain your overall wellness, an annual well-woman exam is also an excellent opportunity to ask questions and discuss the changes you can expect during perimenopause and menopause.
